Orioles Win Three Gold Gloves As Jones Edges Trout

The Orioles lead all Major League teams with three Gold Gloves following a resurgent 2012 season.

Matt Wieters, J.J. Hardy and Adam Jones all won the award. Jones edged Angels rookie Mike Trout, who was expected by many to take the honor.

The rest of the American League winners were Jake Peavy/Jeremy Hellickson at pitcher, Mark Teixeira at first, Robinson Cano at second, Adrian Beltre at third. The other two outfielders were Alex Gordon and Josh Reddick.

The National League winners were Mark Buehrle, Yadier Molina, Adam LaRoche, Darwin Barney, Chase Headley, Jimmy Rollins, Carlos Gonzalez, Andrew McCutchen and Jason Heyward.

Scutaro Named NLCS MVP After Tying Record With 14 Hits

It was fitting that Marco Scutaro caught the final out of San Francisco's Game 7 win over St. Louis on Monday night.

Scutaro is headed to the World Series for the first time in his career at age 36 and took home the NLCS MVP as well. He tied an LCS record with 14 hits, recording three singles and a walk in the deciding game.

Scutaro batted .500 with two walks, scored six runs and drove in four against the Cardinals.

Trout Named Top Rookie By Baseball America

Mike Trout has become the first player ever to win Baseball America's Rookie of the Year and Major League Player of the Year awards in the same season.

Trout finished second in the American League in batting average (.326), first in steals (49) and runs (129), third in on-base percentage (.399) and third in slugging percentage (.564).

Despite not being promoted to the big leagues until April 28, he became the first player ever to combine at least 45 steals with 125 runs and 30 homers in one season.
